Puerto Lumbreras will host the first Criterium 'Carrera Urbana Manuel Martínez Costa' on March 10th.
The councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Rubén Burrueco, and the president of Club Veloaventura, Antonio Sánchez, presented this morning the sports event.
"Few sports such as cycling have so many followers in Puerto Lumbreras, and proof of this is the continuous organization of sporting events in this discipline in our locality," said Burrueco.
The councilor explained that "the great rise of cycling in the modality of road has led to the organization of the first edition of this sporting event that will run through the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras in a circuit closed to traffic."
Participants will travel all the National-340 as it passes through the urban area of ​​Puerto Lumbreras, from the round that gives access to the old town to the Sports Center, in both directions.
This circuit will have a length of 4,240 meters.
The test will consist of two 'sleeves', as long as both modalities exceed each of the 25 participants.
On the one hand, the 'short sleeve' will be developed during 45 minutes plus two laps to the route;
and on the other hand, the 'long sleeve' will be done during 1 hour and 30 minutes, plus two laps to the route.
The cyclists who during the time of competition are reached by the motorcycle race head will be automatically eliminated and must leave the test to the next step by line of exit or goal.
Registrations can now be formalized on the website www.cronomur.es.
People who complete the form and make the payment of the fee (10 euros) through the web, which will be available until March 7, will be given a gift.
In person, it will also be possible to register for the competition on the day of the race, until the maximum number of places is filled.
Once the race is over, the trophies will be awarded, in which the top three finishers in each of the categories will be awarded, the first three local classifieds in the two 'legs', and the cyclist who makes the most fast
