Nearly a hundred cyclists participated this morning in the first edition of the Criterium 'Carrera Urbana Manuel Martínez Costa'.
Around 10.15 am the test began with the start of the first 'manga' and 11.30 was the turn of the second.
The participants have toured the entire National-340 as it passes through the urban area of Puerto Lumbreras, from the round that gives access to the old town to the Sports Center, in both directions.
It is a circuit with a length of 4,240 meters.
On the one hand, the 'short sleeve' test was developed for 45 minutes, plus two laps of the course;
and on the other hand, the 'long sleeve' has been done for 1 hour and 30 minutes, plus two laps on the course.
"Few sports like cycling have so many followers in Puerto Lumbreras, and proof of this is the continuous organization of sporting events like this one in our town," stressed Sports Councilor Juan Rubén Burrueco.
The councilor explained that "the great rise of cycling in the modality of road has led to the organization of the first edition of this sporting event that has been successful through the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras in a circuit closed to traffic."
