The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has been awarded by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism in the National Internal Trade Awards.

The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, accompanied by the general director of Commerce, Francisco Abril, and the Councilor for Commerce, Angela Morillas, this morning picked up the distinction in recognition of the commercial initiatives that were launched in the municipality in recent years.

Among the initiatives include the creation of a network of Business Incubators, the free advisory service for entrepreneurs, incorporation of new technologies to the company and the improvement of furniture and the commercial urban environment.

The Selection Body of the National Internal Trade Awards, in order to highlight the quality of the application submitted by the City of Puerto Lumbreras, has decided to grant an honorable mention in the modality of 'Town Councils'.

This badge is a recognition of the commercial commitment made by the Lumbrerense Consistory to promote internal trade, a fundamental part of economic activity and the creation of employment.

These prizes are awarded in three modalities: the National Award to the City Council, of an honorary nature, designed to reward commercial urban renewal activities;

the National Small Business Award, which aims to reward commercial development and business modernization through the improvement of technology, association or merger of companies;

and a third National Award for Open Shopping Centers, aimed at rewarding commercial associations, aimed at the promotion of Open Shopping Centers (CCA) and the empowerment and development of its management bodies.

The Mayor, Mª Ángeles Túnez, stressed that "it has been a pride to receive an award that highlights the local initiatives that we have promoted from the City Council, which encourages us to continue working on the revitalization of local trade and the development of the fabric business. "
