The municipality of Puerto Lumbreras hosted yesterday for the first time the paper procession, in which more than 200 children participated, as well as the Municipal Music Band.
At 5:00 pm, the procession left from the courtyard of the Cultural Center to go through the main streets of the town until ending in the Parochial Church, where a Mass was presided over by Don Alejandro Cases Ramón.
The costumes of the participants were made with paper by the children of catechism that this year will carry out First Communion in the municipality.
The children wore outfits designed by themselves with representations of the Royal and Illustrious Brotherhood of the Most Holy Christ of the Faith and Most Holy Mary of Mercy, Ancient and Venerable Brotherhood of the Blessed Virgin of Sorrows and Brotherhood Our Father Jesus Nazareno and Most Holy Mary of Hope .
This procession is an initiative of the Cabildo de Confraternias Pasionarias of Puerto Lumbreras and Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Rosario, in collaboration with the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras.
With the paper procession, the opening of the popular mission 2019 takes place in Puerto Lumbreras, which will take place from April 5 to 13.
Tomorrow the program continues with a day of coexistence in the Cabezo de la Jara, in which the young people of Confirmation will participate.
In the afternoon, at 8:00 pm, mass presided by Don Carlos Fortes, episcopal vicar of the Diocese of Almería and parish priest of Vera, and then a proclamation of Holy Week.
Among the activities is also family cinema with the projection of the 'Prince of Egypt' on April 7 at 17.30 in the auditorium of the Cultural Center or the screening of 'The Passion of Christ' at 9.00 pm on 9 April.
The popular mission includes throughout the week visits to the IES Rambla de Nogalte with Don Manuel Verdú, parish priest of Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Puente Tocinos, mass celebration in the Day Center for the elderly and family catechesis, among other activities.
The mission will close with a closing Mass presided by the Episcopal Vicar of the area of ​​Lorca, Francisco Fructuoso.
