On May 4, the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras will host the 1st Book Fair, organized by the association of artists and creators 'Palin' and the association of writers 'Murcia Romántica', in collaboration with the town council.
The fair, which will be held in Augusto Vels public park, will offer attendees various cultural alternatives in which they can participate as painting or poetry.
The fair will bring the latest literary novelties aimed at all audiences.
The event will feature the presence of numerous publishers such as III Columns, Pluma Verde or Dokusou Ediciones and with the presence of the local bookstores 'Papiro' and 'Rayas'.
In this way, the event will open at 10.30 am with the initiative 'live painting'.
It is a proposal directed by Santi García Cánovas, which will feature renowned painters from the Region of Murcia such as Marcelino Menéndez, Bruno Banalli and local artists.
At 11.00 am, the broadcast of a live radio program will begin.
Next, a book signing is planned in which more than a dozen local writers and other points of the Region of Murcia will participate.
Among the authors from Lumbrere, Carmen Martínez, María Pérez, Isabel Navarro, Mª Concepción Pérez de Carrión, Blanca Túnez, Chris Torrent, Mireya Ruiz, Purificación Gázquez Rodríguez and María Pérez Martínez will be present.
Another of the proposals offered by the fair will be a poetic recital by the Association of Murcia poets from 18.00.
The program of activities is completed with a contest of short stories to explore the creativity and desire to write of the students of 3rd and 4th Primary of the schools of the municipality.
The jury in charge of naming the winners will be made up of members of the Palin association, a representative of the Asociación Murcia Romántica and the local writer Carmen Martínez.
The winners will be presented with a diploma and a batch of books.
To conclude, the Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Mª Victoria Jerez, has encouraged the citizens of the municipality and nearby towns to visit the fair in which they will find "a wide offer aimed at all audiences with works of very varied genres."
Jerez has insisted on "the importance of encouraging culture starting with encouraging reading from the earliest ages".
