The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Education and Public Safety, in collaboration with the Local Police, animal protection associations and veterinary centers in the town, launched a conference to raise awareness about welfare and care needed to the companion animals framed in the project "Animal Welfare, respect and coexistence with animals".
The days have been specially directed to the students of the four schools of the municipality to create the educative bases of the minors in the respect to the animals.
Specifically, about 200 primary school children of the schools of the municipality participated in the conference whose objective is to raise awareness and educate the population in respect for animals, especially companion animals and to reject any type of abuse .
During the conference, among other aspects, respect was fostered towards animals, knowledge of their basic needs or mandatory requirements for pet ownership such as health insurance or vaccines.
In the same way, schoolchildren received information about the Municipal Ordinance for the Protection and Tenure of Companion Animals, Parks and Gardens, the new Regional Law for the Protection and Defense of Companion Animals, and other regulations on animal abuse.
It should be noted that El Puerto 'veterinary center, the NEXO Puerto Lumbreras veterinary center, as well as local and personal police agents from different animal protectors such as' Nico Dog Rescue Support Spain' (NDRSS), and 'Animal Hotel, Canine Residence' participated in this initiative. and of Training '.
In addition, the project has also collaborated with the non-profit Association, Professionals for Animal Defense, PRODA.
