The training courses of the European project 'Eco Green' have already begun, of which Puerto Lumbreras is beneficiary with the municipality of Huércal-Overa, and with which it is intended to promote quality employment in the environmental sector and the eco-management of spaces green areas and natural areas for agricultural and tourist use.
In particular, the training activity that is currently being taught is 'precision agriculture and the Internet of things: water and energy efficiency'.
A total of 23 students from Puerto Lumbreras and 23 from Huércal-Overa are doing this course, which has content related to technologies for the implementation of efficient solutions, technology at the service of agriculture and energy efficiency through smart grids (Smart Grids ).
The objective of the training action is to introduce students to new agricultural technologies and develop new professional profiles, increasingly demanded by agri-food companies.
Through this course, students acquire the ability to develop useful technological skills and methodologies that respond to new social demands.
It should be noted that the contents are distributed in seven current thematic modules in the agricultural environment and have a technical and practical nature.
Throughout the course, participants know the latest technologies that are being applied in the agricultural sector: big data, robotics, smart grids, IoT, sensorization, energy efficiency, remote sensing and precision agriculture, among others.
In the coming months, the training courses related to the primary sector will continue.
The following training actions are: 'Eco efficiency in the horticultural sector', 'Recovery and custody of land in agricultural and tourist use', 'Organic orange cultivation', 'Sustainable landscaping in green spaces and natural areas for tourist and urban use ',' Use of drones for the eco-efficiency of soil and water '.
The execution of this program will allow the formation of a total of 302 people in Puerto Lumbreras and Huércal-Overa, with an expected labor insertion of 10% of the participants, with 155 people benefiting from these training activities in the municipality of Lumbrerense.
The mayor of the town, M ª Angeles Tunisia, has assured that "one of our priority objectives is employment and, through this project, we will ensure that unemployed people improve their chances of employment in economic sectors linked to the environment "
All the courses combine face-to-face training with online.

The program has the support of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition (formerly Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment), the Biodiversity Foundation, the Empleaverde program and the European Social Fund, whose motto is "The European Social Fund invests in your future ", and with the collaboration of the Hon.
City Council of Huércal-Overa.
The project is a free action co-financed by the European Social Fund to obtain training and quality employment.
