The Department of the Environment of the City of Puerto Lumbreras has organized various activities to commemorate the World Environment Day.
Each year, the Lumbrerense Consistory organizes around this theme a series of initiatives aimed at all audiences.
Specifically, the students of the IES Rambla de Nogalte have attended a talk on the carbon footprint, given by technical staff of the Office of Socioeconomic Impulse of the Autonomous Community, to reflect on the adolescents.
The talk also emphasized the richness and variety of the natural spaces of the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras and how to conserve them correctly.
In the same way, the City Council, in collaboration with the concessionaire of parks and gardens, is carrying out revegetation work in different areas of the town.
Among the plants that are being recovered, there are more than 100 specimens of thyme, 334 pines, 145 myrtle plants, 50 of rosemary, 30 of hackberry and 75 oleanders.
The Department has selected the most suitable species for each type of space, taking into account the factors that favor their roots and the place where they best adapt.
On the other hand, visits to the Ecoparque have been programmed with the objective of raising awareness among the population about the problems caused by the large amount of urban waste that is generated.
Next June 24, the mobile Ecopark will move to the Center for People with Disabilities 'Ciped' so that users know their operation closely.
In addition, in the previous days, users of this center will also perform revegetation work in the vicinity of the Casa del Cura.
