More than 100 children who celebrated their First Communion this year participated yesterday in the traditional procession of Corpus Christi, which was held in Puerto Lumbreras and in the hamlet of La Estación-Esparragal.
The procession in Puerto Lumbreras began at 7:30 p.m.
and toured some of the main streets of the municipality, where the altars of the contest were installed, accompanied by the Municipal Music Band.
The children made stops during the tour in the different altars decorated for the occasion.
In the same way, the children of the parish of La EstaciónEsparragal also attended the procession, in the hermitage of the Lumbrerense district.
Coinciding with the Corpus Festivity, the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Culture, organized the fourth edition of the Altars and Balconies Contest.
Specifically, 8 altars and balconies were decorated for the occasion and they did not miss the Eucharistic reference.
The winners were the altars decorated by the Brotherhood of Christ of the Faith, Isabel Pérez Sánchez and Concepción Martínez.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Mass in honor of the Virgen del Rosario in the parish, during the month of October in the celebration of the Patron Saint Festivities.
It should be noted that the jury, made up of cultural associations of the municipality, took into account the artistic quality of the facilities and the maintenance of the traditional elements in the adornment of altars at the time of their evaluation.
