PSOE Puerto Lumbreras recalls that during these days LGTBI pride week will be held and considers the need to support this group by making visible their fight against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
Although the groups that pursue equality have made remarkable progress, it is true that much remains to be done in the fight against all kinds of prejudice and respect for the equal rights of those with a sexual orientation different from the heterosexual.
The International LGBTI Pride Day is celebrated next June 28, reason why we consider that it would be a great gesture to pay homage to the people who have fought for a more tolerant and egalitarian society, that does not diminish opportunities for any citizen and radically discard positions such as discrimination, violence and homophobia.
In this sense, Lumbrerenses Socialists would feel very proud if the City Council, as a gesture of support for the cause, carried out a program of activities to celebrate social progress and raise awareness among citizens.
According to María Rosa García López: "we would like the rainbow flag to fly on the front of our consistory as a way of expressing our support for the consecration of a decades-long struggle that, fortunately, ended up legalizing homosexual marriage, putting us in the lead in social policies that would later be imitated by the most advanced democracies in the world "
