Members of the Astronomical Association of the Region of Murcia will give talks on astronomy in which they will explain to the attendees this astral phenomenon.

The Department of Tourism, in collaboration with the Astronomical Association of the Region of Murcia, has organized a special day with different activities to contemplate 'The tears of San Lorenzo', or 'Starfall' that will take place on the esplanade of the youth hostel Cabezo de la Jara today, Monday, August 12.

Specifically, the day will begin at 10 pm with a presentation and projection of persecutions, by members of the Astronomical Association of the Region of Murcia that will explain this astral phenomenon.

We will continue with the observation of Jupiter, Saturn and the Moon from the telescopes installed in the esplanade of the Youth Hostel and after 23.00 hours you can observe the open sky.

From 00:00 hours you can make free observation, for which it is recommended to bring a sunbed or sleeping bag, in addition to some food and drink.

The Councilor for Tourism, Toņi Navarro, stressed that "it is a different leisure alternative for summer nights, aimed at all audiences and to enjoy with family, while you can learn basic notions about astronomy."

He also continued explaining that "every year the number of participants in this activity increases, which has already become a must for many Lumbrereans and astronomy enthusiasts who come from different parts of the Region."

This is a free activity that is part of the program of activities of the "Nogalte Cultural 2019.

In addition, the day includes a visit to the facilities of the Astronomical Observatory of the Cabezo de la Jara, which is the only park with Starlight certification of sky quality, which guarantees that in optimal weather conditions phenomena such as the Perseids can be enjoyed.
