80 athletes participated last Sunday in the fifth edition of the 'Bike Orientation MTB Cabezo de la Jara', arriving from different points of the Region of Murcia and other autonomous communities.
It was the last test of the Southeast Circuit of MTB-Orientation.
The start and finish took place at the "Cabezo de la Jara" Youth Hostel at 10:00 am, and the participants had to find and chop during the tour a series of beacons located at strategic points.
The closing of the event took place at around 1:00 p.m., with trophies being subsequently delivered to the same shelter.
There was also supplies at the end of the competition and raffle gifts.
The test had different routes and categories depending on them, both individual and teams, as male and female, in addition to the novelty of e-bikes or electric bicycles.
"All the participants agreed that the surroundings of the Cabezo de la Jara together with the facilities of the lodge are ideal places for the practice of this sport. Likewise, tests are already being prepared for next years and valuing the possibility of organizing a Championship of the World in Puerto Lumbreras in 2022, "sources of the organization said.
The event was organized by the MTB club Cabezo la Jara and Lorca-Orientation;
being responsible for the layout Juan Francisco Abellán, champion of Spain in the specialty in master-40 category, who also recently participated in the Veterans World Championship finishing in 11th position in its category.
The V Bike Orientation Cabezo La Jara also had the collaboration of the Department of Physical Activity and Sports of the City of Puerto Lumbreras.
