The socialist group considers that, to the numerous benefits of increasing the wooded area, now there is a need to reduce erosion and the dragging of sediments that worsen the episodes of increasingly common floods in our region.
The proposal aims for the City Council to promote, either on public land, or on private land, an initiative to plant trees of the forest hydrological correction type, that is, to protect the soil from erosion by torrential rains, which in turn is a ecological restoration that seeks to enrich the diversity of flora and fauna.
The idea is that any citizen can participate in the plantation.
An option suggested by the socialist group is that the campaign be in the style of the one successfully carried out in Lorca by the Association La Carrasca under the slogan "A citizen, a tree", in which each participant will try to care for (water, mainly) their tree during the months after planting, so the survival rate of trees is much higher.
In addition, the motion invites the City Council to inform the educational centers of the municipality and give them the opportunity to participate to those who are interested.
