The municipality of Puerto Lumbreras will host the second edition of the Mediterranean Hispania Handball Cup on December 28 and 29. The event will be held in the female and male juvenile category in two spaces, the Municipal Sports Center and the Multiuse Rural Center of La Station-Esparragal.
The presentation, which took place this morning, was attended by the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras;
María Ángeles Tunisia, the Councilor for Sports;
Juan Rubén Burrueco, the president of the Handball Federation, Daniel Santos, and the president of the Puerto Lumbreras Handball Club, Juan Montiel.
The Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Juan Rubén Burrueco, has been satisfied to host this sporting event in the municipality and stressed that "Puerto Lumbreras returns to organize this cup with the aim of promoting sports among the youngest, and to bring together in our magnificent facilities players and players from different Autonomous Communities to enjoy the sport they like and share experiences and socially and sports enriching coexistence days. "
The competition format has two groups of four teams per category and sex.
The championship is divided into two phases: a previous one, in which all teams will face each other, completing three games each;
and another final phase, in which each team will play three games of the group stage.
Finished this, the first two classified of each group will play semifinal matches between them.
The last two classifieds of each group will also play semifinal matches between them, doing so as a championship and a cup, giving all participating teams the opportunity to play a minimum of four matches.
Once all the meetings are finished, trophies will be given in which all the participants will receive recognition.
It should be noted that the matches will be two parts of 10 minutes each with 5 minutes of rest.
On the other hand, the tournament will have a solidarity character, since during it a photocall will be installed with the logos of all those companies that collaborate with it, and the amount collected will be donated entirely in favor of the ADICA Association of Puerto Lumbreras, that works to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
Finally, the Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports has encouraged everyone to visit Puerto Lumbreras to enjoy their cultural and sports wealth: "Those who visit us during these two days will not only enjoy a great sporting show, they can also enjoy our heritage , our gastronomy and our people ".
The competition is organized by the Handball Federation of the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with the Puerto Lumbreras Handball Club, the Puerto Lumbreras City Council and the regional government.
