Continuing with the pastoral visit to the pastoral area of Lorca, the auxiliary bishop of Cartagena, Mons. Sebastián Chico Martínez, was yesterday with faithful from the parish of the Purísima Concepción of El Esparragal (Puerto Lumbreras).
The visit began at 4:30 p.m., with the reception of the auxiliary bishop by the parishioners and the pastor of El Esparragal, Juan María Moreno, to whom he recalled that “the Church, through its pastors, reminds everyone Christians who are a big family. â€
After the reception, Mons. Chico met with the children of catechesis, to whom he reminded that "the love of God is infinite" and explained the meaning of each of the episcopal signs.
He also went to the home of two elderly women, 86 and 90 years old, who had collaborated for many years with the parish but, now, due to health problems they received communion in their homes.
Finally, Mons. Chico presided over the seasonal mass, which was also attended by the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, María Ángeles Tunisia.
In his homily, the auxiliary bishop thanked the work of all the faithful who collaborate with the parish and encouraged them to try to be "light in the midst of society."
He also recalled that “what unites Christians is Jesus Christ through prayer and the sacraments†and, therefore, urged everyone to “transmit, wherever they were, the joy of feeling united in family as a Church and as children of God".
After the celebration, the crew of El Esparragal dedicated a trovo, thanking him for his visit.
