With the municipal music band, Puerto Lumbreras received the Bishop of Cartagena, Mons. José Manuel Lorca Planes, last Saturday, at the gates of the parish of Our Lady of the Rosary.
The bishop arrived at 11:00 a.m. at the parish temple and then had a meeting with the mayor, María Ángeles Tunisia, and his government team at the House of Elves, where the mayor gave the bishop a picture with the image of the patron saint of Puerto Lumbreras.
Mons. Lorca visited a sick woman in his house and met with the pastor, Alejandro Cases, to review the file and sign in the parish book.
That day, the bishop ate with the parish council and the municipal government team;
and in the afternoon he met with the pastoral agents and with the acolytes and altar boys.
Taking advantage of his pastoral visit, in the afternoon mass, the bishop confirmed 35 young people.
Mons. Lorca invited all the faithful of Puerto Lumbreras to live intensely Christmas and, accompanied by the young people who received the sacrament of Confirmation that afternoon, the pastor of the Diocese blessed the life-size municipal bethlehem, installed in the square of the church.
The pastoral visit of Mons. Lorca to Puerto Lumbreras continued on Sunday, at 11:00 a.m. he had an encounter with the families of the children of catechesis in the house of the brotherhoods.
There, the bishop was able to contemplate an exhibition of drawings about his person, made by the students of the different schools of Puerto Lumbreras, as part of an activity in which the minors explained what a bishop is and what his role in the Church is.
In addition, the prelate blessed the images of the Child Jesus that the children took to this meeting.
At 12:00 hours, Mons. Lorca presided over the seasonal mass in the parish of Our Lady of the Rosary, thus celebrating the third Sunday of Advent with the parish community.
During his homily, he stressed the importance of the work of the laity in the Church and encouraged them to persevere in the faith by making the Lord present in their environment.
Finally, accompanied by his auxiliary bishop, Mons. Lorca shared the meal with more than 700 pensioners and at 5:00 p.m. he presided over the seasonal mass for the dead in Henares.
“The visit of our Bishop has been a very important incentive for the sake of greater communion among the faithful of Puerto Lumbreras and also with the Diocese itself, through the figure of our pastor.
It has been a moment of encounter and joy, of being able to enjoy and share the faith as a united Church with our diocesan pastor and it has been lived with great enthusiasm, not only from the parish community but, in general, from all the institutions and schools that are they have turned to receive it, â€says Alejandro Cases, pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary of Puerto Lumbreras.
