The House of Elves of Puerto Lumbreras hosted on Wednesday a new edition of the Christmas candy contest 'Puerto Lumbreras de dulce', organized by the Department of Celebrations and Culture.
Coinciding with the arrival of this holiday season, the City Council has programmed this initiative for pastry enthusiasts with the aim of recovering traditional recipes and promoting the Christmas spirit.
Out of a total of 16 varieties, the jury chose the "Sighs" of María del Mar Navarro as the sweet winner, the second prize went to the grandmother of María Mateos' alphabets and the third prize for Cati Martínez's angel hair cakes .
The winners were presented with baskets and lots of high quality products.
After the jury's decision, the large audience attended each of the sweets presented to the contest.
The Councilor for Celebrations and Culture, Juan Rubén Burrueco, explained that "every year there are more citizens who join this initiative with which we also want to highlight the gastronomic tradition of Lumbrerense these holidays, and with a high level of participants."
