The municipal group of the Popular Party in the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras will carry for its debate and approval in the next ordinary plenary session a motion against the undercover closure of the Tajo-Segura transfer.
"Unfortunately, the Secretary of State and the Minister of Ecological Transition, Hugo Morán and Teresa Ribera respectively, have decided not to transfer water for the Levantine irrigation in the months of November and December, adopting for the second consecutive month, a surprising decision, -ya that it is contrary to the criteria of the technicians of the Central Commission of Exploitation of the Transfer, which affirm that there are resources available for transfer-, putting the State of the Mar Menor as an excuse and threatening the most important sector of the regional economy; the agricultural one, "says the councilor of the popular municipal group;
Tońi Navarro.
Therefore, the PP will propose that the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras urge the Government of the Nation to respect and comply with Law 21/2013, which establishes the rules of operation of the Tajo-Segura Transfer, which were approved in October 2013 by the consensus of five Autonomous Communities, the Irrigators and the government of Spain, respecting the decision of the technicians of the Central Commission of Exploitation.
In addition, the Government of the Nation will be urged to reconsider the decision adopted by the Minister of Ecological Transition regarding the Tagus-Safe Transfer, in the months of November and December, and issue an order to transfer the amount proposed by the technicians of the central operating commission.
