Javier Egea (Vélez Rubio, 1983) has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Granada, and has participated in numerous collective and individual exhibitions in Andalusia, Murcia, Madrid, Germany and the United States.
In the words of Julio Rodríguez, Art Director, Javier Egea achieves with his work "Paintings" that we feel to be before person and painting at the same time.
And it is that the genre of the portrait in the painting, produces a special interest.
Unlike other themes, the portrait provokes a particular sensation, different from what a landscape, a still life, or even an animal might trigger.
A biological response
Regardless of the style used, tools and technique, when we see a face, with few exceptions, our brain for a brief period of time thinks it recognizes a real person.
We interpret the painting unconsciously as if it were someone of flesh and blood, until after thousandths of a second, without realizing it, we understand that in effect, what we see is a painting, just that.
Javier Egea's painting reaches this sensation, that moment and there it stops.
Most of the portrayed are reduced to a head, no body, just a face that looks back at you.
The limit of the canvas does not go far beyond the limits of the head, only face.
In an exquisite and balanced exercise of brush strokes and brush strokes, we remain suspended in that particular moment, that space of time in which a face produces the sensation of being in front of someone real without getting lost in a faithful and realistic representation of the flesh, The face or the details.
