The conference has included a simulator in which young people have checked what happens when a car overturns, how the seat belt acts in the event of an accident or how it affects the consumption of alcohol and drugs in driving.
More than 200 students between 14 and 17 years of age at the Rambla de Nogalte Institute of Secondary Education participated between February 26 and March 4 in the III Road Safety Conference, with the aim of training to avoid risks and prevent accidents
Specifically, students have attended theoretical lectures on road safety and first aid during these days, to later put this knowledge into practice in practical workshops.
Thus, the practical day that yesterday put the end point on Wednesday, included a simulator in which students have checked what happens when a car overturns, how the seat belt acts in the event of an accident or how it affects the consumption of alcohol and drugs in driving.
Similarly, young people have learned basic concepts to act in case of emergency, how to act against different types of burns, mobilization and immobilization of patients, assistance to polytrauma patients, as well as cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The Councilor for Education, José Manuel Sánchez, said that "one more year we have launched this road safety campaign, with the aim that young people know the rules and prevent accidents," and stressed that "these days have been very participatory, and different activities have been carried out so that students can verify the theoretical content in a practical way and real cases have been exposed to capture the attention and interest of young people. "
It should be noted that these conferences are organized by the Local Police and the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, in collaboration with the Civil Protection of the municipality, Ambulancias de Lorca, the San Nicolás de Cartagena Training Center and the Red Cross.
