The Socialist Party requests the Puerto Lumbreras City Council to immediately take the necessary steps to proceed with the payment of hundreds of pending invoices, many of them more than a year old.
The situation that has come to our businessmen as a result of the pandemic caused by the Covid-19 leaves them in a very critical situation, since the socialist ranks see it inadmissible that they also have to endure municipal liquidity problems.
Just a week ago, we have been able to see how the neighboring municipality of Lorca, in a very short period of time, has injected € 840,000 of liquidity into its suppliers, reducing payment deadlines as much as possible.
The PSOE spokesperson for Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Rosa García, considers that "this measure is essential so that the entrepreneurs of our municipality can get ahead at these critical moments", at the same time that it urges the government team to take some type of measure in support of our productive fabric.
"The city council cannot remain impassive, trying to make its own the measures adopted by the Government of Spain, it must also put something on its side," they criticize from the socialist ranks.
According to María Rosa García, "there are many points from where the Puerto Lumbreras City Council can act, as have municipalities in our environment, such as Lorca and Águilas."
From the discount of rates and public prices of services not enjoyed, such as the solid waste removal service to companies or premises that have been inactive due to confinement, the discount of local taxes to affected companies, and a long etc.
