The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Túnez, held a videoconference meeting with the president of the Official Chamber of Commerce of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras, Juan Francisco Gómez, and the president of CECLOR, Antonio García Díaz.
During the meeting, it was studied how to face the economic situation due to the consequences of COVID-19.
The objective of this meeting is to alleviate, to the extent of the possibilities of the local administration, the delicate economic situation that the municipality is going through to achieve recovery in a sector that the coronavirus has especially punished as it is being that of the self-employed, merchants and micro SMEs.
The City Council is aware of the seriousness of this crisis, which is why cooperation with other administrations is necessary to continue maintaining basic services for the population.
Among the measures taken for the adaptation of companies and the self-employed, the reduction in the water and garbage rate has been addressed.
The mayor has proposed to petition the Commonwealth of Canales del Taibilla to lower the price of water.
In addition, the exception of the IAE payment, the public road tax and the fees for market and plaza vendors have been discussed.
Other issues negotiated at this meeting have been the 50% IBI bonus and the vehicle tax bonus, as well as an investment plan for the reactivation of commerce and hospitality, among others.
On the part of CECLOR and the Official Chamber of Commerce, they have offered their help to cooperate in the coordination of all the activities that are carried out for the reactivation of companies and the self-employed.
In addition, the mayoress has expressed her concern for the goat sector, especially affected by the deterioration of the market and being left out of the HORECA channel, given that its production is seasonal and linked to its consumption in restaurants and hotels, which have had to close for the confinement measures decreed.
