| The event was attended by representatives of associations and groups from the municipality and the region, State Security Forces and Bodies, regional authorities and neighbors , complying with the safety standards set by health organizations | Puerto Lumbreras inaugurated yesterday Tuesday the first mural in recognition of the fight, effort and sacrifice of the entire society of the municipality, the Region of Murcia and Spain, against the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the victims.
A work painted by hand by the lumbrerense artist Miguel Ángel Martínez Morales who gave it to the City Council, and which is already located in the gardens of Paco Rabal; place chosen by the residents themselves mostly in the social networks of the local consistory.
It was made coinciding with the celebration of July 7, which commemorated this Tuesday the 62nd anniversary of the constitution of Puerto Lumbreras as an independent city council. The event, which included all the measures set by the health authorities, was attended by a government team and municipal corporation, neighbors, representatives of different associations and groups from Puerto Lumbreras and the Guadalentín region, from the State Security Forces and Bodies , as well as Alberto Castillo; President of the Regional Assembly, Isabel Franco; vice-president of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Esperanza Moreno; Minister of Education and Culture, or Domingo Fernández; mayor of Huércal-Overa, among others.
Also representing those who have suffered from the disease was Luis Revelles, a retired teacher from Lumbre who spent more than 60 days in the ICU and REA of the Rafael Méndez Hospital, managing to beat the virus after many adversities. In addition to the inauguration of the mural, a laurel wreath was placed in honor of those killed by COVID-19, both civilian and military. The mayor, María Ángeles Tunisia, highlighted that in this work "all the sectors that have collaborated to overcome this pandemic are represented, as well as the unity of all Spaniards.
It is a great recognition of the people who have put their shoulders every day to combat coronavirus, and Puerto Lumbreras' thanks to them.
