| The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras visits the area with the General Director of Roads after completing the contract award | The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras; María Ángeles Tunisia, and the Councilor for Works and Services; César Gázquez, along with José Antonio Fernández; Director General of Highways of the regional government, this morning visited the RM-D17 road that connects Puerto Lumbreras with Almendricos, on the occasion of the award of the work to improve this road.
In it, the Autonomous Community is going to invest more than 3.8 million euros, with a term of execution of 12 months, so the execution of the works will begin at the beginning of next September and will end after the summer of 2021. This is an action that covers a section of more than 6 kilometers, and consists of repairing the pavement, improving the layout of the entire road and adapting the accesses and the platform to equip it along its entire route with two 3-lane lanes.

The adaptation of the entire road drainage system will also be undertaken to avoid flooding during rain episodes, and it will have sidewalks on both sides of the urban section from the beginning of the Almendricos crossing to the underpass under the Murcia railway line.

The work will be equipped with all the necessary signage and beacons to guarantee road safety for all users of this road. The mayor; María Ángeles Tunisia, stressed that "the regional government continues to bet on Puerto Lumbreras and in this case to improve road communications with nearby districts and municipalities.
These works will improve road safety in a section of concentration of accidents, which registers 600,000 displacements annually ".
