The Puerto Lumbreras athletics track has received certification from the Valencia Biomechanics Institute (IBV) for its suitability for conducting quality training on this facility, in which the City Council has invested around 250,000 euros to improve it. The IBV is a laboratory accredited by the International Athletics Federation for testing synthetic surfaces for athletics tracks, under the European standard UNE-EN 14877: 2014, which establishes the requirements that this type of outdoor sports facilities must meet .

The objective of this regulation is to ensure that the pavement provides the required levels of sports performance in terms of athlete / surface interaction through the measurement of parameters such as shock absorption, vertical deformation, slip resistance (dry and wet), thickness and planimetry.

The in situ tests of the track were carried out by the Institute of Biomechanics of Valencia, resulting in all cases suitable according to the reference standard. "Lumbrerenses and especially those who practice any modality within the world of athletics can feel very proud, since we have a reference track in our area to carry out quality training.

And it is certified by a reference center in inspection and testing of facilities sports such as the IBV, with a multitude of national and international recognitions and accreditations for its extensive experience in conformity assessment ", said the Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports; Juan Rubén Burrueco. The facility has a total area of ??more than 3,600 square meters and is intended for clubs and athletes from Puerto Lumbreras to prepare the various tests that make up the practice of athletics, with all the necessary amenities and equipment, and without having to travel to other localities.
