| Lumbrerenses have been complaining for years about deficiencies in cleaning and lighting services | Cleaning the public spaces of a municipality is the responsibility of all its inhabitants.
Education, translated into civility, is the key to having a clean town, but, according to María Rosa García, general secretary of the PSOE of Puerto Lumbreras, "a City Council cannot fail to assume its responsibility and must manage cleaning services in a efficient, something that has not happened in Puerto Lumbreras for several years.
" The workers in the sector do their job correctly, the majority of the citizens act with the necessary civility, but the people are dirty, they do not maintain themselves as they should and the Government Team does not seem to exist when it comes to solving the problem. On the other hand, the lighting of the municipality has numerous deficiencies, which has a negative impact on commercial areas, creates annoyance to neighbors and even reduces visibility in pedestrian crossings where accidents have already occurred. For this reason, the Lumbrerense PSOE presents this month a motion requesting the improvement of the lighting and the cleaning service, creating a cleaning monitoring commission, renovating the bins and containers that need it, carrying out citizen awareness campaigns and elaborating a study on lighting that allows to have a system without deficiencies and that is efficient in order to reduce municipal expenses while contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
