| The work is intended to be carried out at various points of the fortification, focusing mainly on the walls | The Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia approves a grant of 1,500 euros to improve the signage of the places of tourist and historical interest in the municipality The General Directorate of Cultural Assets of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia and the Puerto Lumbreras City Council will invest more than 80,000 euros in the improvement of the Nogalte Castle.
Specifically, the work is intended to be carried out at various points of the fortification, focusing mainly on the walls, which are practically the total of the original elements visible today. The project also plans to carry out restoration work on the triacoda door, as well as on the area where archaeological excavations carried out to document and recover the wall cloth have been focused in recent years. In this way, the main activities to be developed in this project would focus "on the volumetric reintegration of the wall at the eastern end of the Castle through the recovery of canvas applying original construction techniques", points out the Councilor for Heritage and Tourism, Toņi Navarro, "as well as interventions in the area of ??the triacoded door to stop its deterioration, recover volumetrically the lost and apply solutions that avoid the reproduction of such degradation". To this must be added actions in the joints between original and contemporary walls to address the situation of loss of original mass due to disintegration caused by meteorological agents, as well as cracks and some landslides. Toņi Navarro has stated that "Puerto Lumbreras has a great patrimonial wealth that we must protect, conserve and disseminate in order to advance in the knowledge of our culture and make our history known." On the other hand, and thanks to a grant of around 1,500 euros from the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, an inventory of the existing signage in the municipality indicative of places of tourist and historical interest will be carried out, to proceed to its improvement or installation of new signage, if applicable: "it is about putting in value the different attractions that Puerto Lumbreras has, improving the image of the different supports that refer to places of tourist and heritage interest.
which will be carried out thanks to the collaboration and involvement with our municipality of the general director of ITREM; Juan Francisco Martínez ".
