| Among the measures to be adopted, the installation of polycarbonate plates in the windows has been assessed, that would allow light to enter and redirect the air, preventing children from directly receiving currents | The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras; Mar a ngeles T nez, and the Councilor for Education; Jos Manuel S nchez, have held this morning a telematic meeting with the directors of the schools and the Institute of Secondary Education of the municipality as well as with municipal technicians, in order to assess new actions to improve ventilation conditions and air quality in classrooms, and thus contribute to greater safety and prevention of COVID-19 in these closed spaces, and in turn to greater comfort for teachers and students.
The City Council has provided 215 CO2 (carbon dioxide) meters to all the classrooms of all the educational centers of Puerto Lumbreras, which are already in operation, and which measure the levels of CO2 in the environment in real time,To check if they are within the limits recommended by the health authorities, or if in a specific classroom, it is necessary to adopt other additional measures. "In this meeting we have analyzed the operation of these devices after the first days, instructions on use have been offered to the directors of the centers, and municipal technicians will carry out studies in different classrooms of each center to determine the best solutions in order to maintain adequate ventilation and also comfort for everyone.
The meters provide us with fundamental information about whether or not there is good ventilation in the classrooms and what steps to take in each case.
In this sense, We continue to listen to the entire educational community to adopt new decisions and always agree with them, "explains the mayor. Among the new measures to be adopted, and taking into account that the natural ventilation provided by maintaining the windows and doors is irreplaceable for the prevention of contagion according to the health authorities and experts, the installation has been assessed.
Polycarbonate plates in the windows, which would allow the entry of light and redirect the air avoiding that the children receive the currents directly, as well as the partial closing of windows to be able to maintain an optimal temperature in the classroom . "We continue to implement the necessary measures to achieve the safest classrooms possible against COVID-19, and fulfill the commitment marked with educational centers, parents and mothers.
These actions are in addition to the recent distribution of 22,000 surgical masks among the students, the reinforcement of material and human resources for continuous disinfection, maintenance work, signs and adaptation of spaces, and the provision of disinfection material, protection and prevention of the virus , among others, that we have been doing for months before the start of the school year, "said Mar a ngeles T nez.
