The municipal group of the Popular Party in the Puerto Lumbreras City Council will take a motion for debate and approval in the next ordinary plenary session urging the Ministry of Public Works to modify the General State Budget for 2021 to include the construction of the third lane in the A-7 highway from Crevillente to Puerto Lumbreras.
In addition, the Government of Spain is requested to contemplate direct access from the A-7 to the Puerto Lumbreras Industrial Park, and to guarantee the levels of service and road safety of this infrastructure with regard to the entire of the municipalities of the Guadalentín Region, as established in the Trans-European Transport Networks.
"For 3 years there has been talk that this project will be executed, which was announced in its day by the Government of the Popular Party within the framework of the ambitious project that was the Extraordinary Plan of Investments in Roads, and that the current Government of PSOE and Podemos has completely paralyzed since he came to power.
The construction of this third lane on both roads is an essential work to decongest an A-7 highway that supports an average traffic of 41,000 vehicles a day, "explained Councilor Raquel Rodríguez .
In addition, the municipal group considers that the project falls short, since the extension of the road to Alhama de Murcia would be a comparative offense for the rest of the municipalities of the Guadalentín region, an area with great export activity in the fruit and vegetable sector, as well as well as for the industrial estates that surround this important road infrastructure, among them the one of the Rest of Puerto Lumbreras.
"The construction of the third lane to Puerto Lumbreras would solve the strong presence of heavy traffic that supports the structural axis of the Region of Murcia with Andalusia in the Mediterranean Corridor, which is the origin, transit and destination of a large amount of goods, in addition of structuring and uniting the Guadalentín Region at a social and economic level; and encouraging the projection of the industrial parks that surround the A-7, with an important link with the municipality of Águilas or the future Lorca-Caravaca Highway ", Rodríguez pointed out.
