The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras favors the installation of solar photovoltaic plants by establishing a 50% reduction in building permits for the implementation of such facilities in the municipality.
Thus, "the council aims to promote the exploitation of renewable energies to promote the environment and promote sustainable development in the locality" as highlights Mayor, Pedro Antonio Sánchez.
With this measure, the council amended the Fiscal Regulatory Tax on Construction, Installations and Works, establishing a 50% reduction in the installation of solar photovoltaic plants.
Sanchez explains, "the agreement reached in the Kyoto Protocol aims to reduce the emission of gases that cause global warming. Solar energy is an inexhaustible source, this is the reason that since the council propose this measure to increase the implementation of these energy systems in the locality. "
In this sense, energy production through solar photovoltaic panels generates no greenhouse gases and is considered a kind of clean energy that helps the environment because it does not generate waste.
Solar panels in public buildings
In addition to promoting the implementation of solar plants, the Municipality of Puerto Lumbreras is installing solar photovoltaic power at more than a dozen public buildings.
