About 200 students of sixth grade participate in the conference which aim to raise awareness, sensitize and educate the population in respect for animals and to reject any type of abuse.
The lectures are given by officers of the Local Police of Puerto Lumbreras and staff from different animal shelters.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras, through the Department of Education and the Department of Health, in collaboration with the local police and animal protection associations, they have launched a conference to raise awareness of welfare and care needed for pets, framed in the project 'animal welfare, respect and coexistence with animals'.
The conference is particularly aimed at students of four schools in the municipality to create the educational foundations of minors in respect for animals.
Specifically, about 200 school children sixth grade of all schools in the municipality participate in the conferences that aim to educate, sensitize and educate the population in respect for animals, especially pets, and to reject any maltreatment.
Thus, during the conference the respect for animals, knowledge of their basic needs or mandatory requirements for pet ownership is encouraged.
Similarly, schoolchildren receive information about the Municipal Ordinance Protection and Animal Holding Company, Parks and Gardens, and other regulations on animal abuse.
The councilman of Health, Andrés López, explained that "the purpose of this initiative is to educate children about the importance of caring and respect animals."
Moreover, he added that "with this program we also emphasize the importance of collecting the droppings of pets on public roads will deteriorate the image of our city and are a source of spread of disease".
It is noteworthy that the talks are given by agents of the local police and personnel from different animal shelters as Nico Dog Rescue Support Spain (NDRSS), Animal Hotel, Boarding Kennels and Training.
In addition, the project has also helped the Professional Association non-profit for Animal Protection (PRODA).
