The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, and the Councillor for Sustainable Development, Angela Morillas, presented this morning programming with more than fifty children.
Revegetation activities, workshops on climate change, visits to mobile Ecoparque, popular science event on Environment and recycling workshops for children are some of the activities included in the program.
Puerto Lumbreras held in June Environment Month with an extensive program of activities, which is to reach the entire population and children a special way.
Specifically, the objective of this program is to educate citizens about the importance of respecting the environment and promote recycling to achieve a sustainable environment.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, explained during the presentation that "coinciding with the arrival of World Environment Day celebrated on June 5, have launched a program of activities to remind lumbrerenses the importance of sustainability and environmental care. "
Thus, the program, which will run from May 26 to June 26, has started today with the activity "My garden and me."
This activity has consisted of a day of revegetation in which, in addition to planting, the children have learned how to care for plants and the importance of maintaining clean parks and gardens.
Thus, throughout the week, students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th of schools and students of IES Rambla de Nogalte plant trees and forest plants in parks and other public spaces to increase the green spaces of the town, at the same time the involvement of children and youth with the environment is strengthened.
In this regard, the activities program continues next May 27 with a conference on climate change and flora of Puerto Lumbreras by technicians of the Office of Social and Economic Promotion Environment (OISMA) in the IES Rambla de Nogalte.
On the other hand, are scheduled visits Mobile Ecoparque on 30 and 31 May to IES Rambla de Nogalte, for young people to know their performance and learn to separate waste properly.
On June 2 there will be a briefing on the Comprehensive Management Plan Natura in Puerto Lumbreras, by the director of the Office for Socio-Economic Promotion of Environment, at 19:30 hours in the House of Trolls
Thus, a Contest of Popular Science on environmental issues with students from the IES Rambla de Nogalte, whose prize ceremony will be held on June 3 will take place.
That same day an information booth will be installed at the weekly market and, in the afternoon, various recycling workshops related to the environment to raise children in the Reina Sofia park will be made.
Similarly, on June 6 the Environmental Sector Council will meet to analyze the municipal management related to environmental issues and to address the implementation of new projects in this area.
On 22 June, an open day will be held at the Center for Nature Interpretation, located in the hamlet of Cabezo de la Jara, aimed at all audiences.
In addition, guided tours of the Astronomical Observatory and astronomical trail routes through the visits will take place.
Finally, the program includes a radio contest under the theme "Improve your environment by recycling".
The winners will get bonuses for municipal pools summer.
