The City Council awarded a grant of 33,000 euros to the Association "Friends of Music" to teach classes and perform music concerts and parades in the city.

The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, and President of the Association "Friends of Music", Antonio Gonzalez, this morning signed a collaboration agreement to promote musical culture in the municipality.

With the signing of this agreement, the association is committed to making musical activities such as concerts, parades, collaborations with schools, recordings of CDs, among other activities.

In addition, since this association music classes will be taught the citizens of the municipality who want it.

For its part, the City of Puerto Lumbreras gives the partnership a grant of 33,000 euros to finance musical activities in the municipality, and allows the use of municipal facilities of the street poet Miguel Hernández to develop them.

As it explained by the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, the aim of this agreement is "to promote musical culture among lumbrerenses and facilitate learning music to all those interested in joining the band."

Finally, the mayor has encouraged lumbrerenses to join this band "that plays an important work of cultural promotion at local and regional level."

It should be noted that the association "Friends of Music of Puerto Lumbreras" is an associative entity created in 1987 and currently has 56 components.

Since its inception, the Municipal Band has performed numerous concerts in the town, and has been present in the most important festive events of the town as the festivities, the act of the July 7 or the parade floats, among others .

In 1996, the Municipal Band joins the Association "Friends of Music of Puerto Lumbreras", linking its journey to the School of Music, where classes Initiation Musical, Musical Language, Brass taught, Wind wood and percussion, and from which it has spread the knowledge of different musical instruments through auditions and school concerts performed regularly by its alumni / ae.
