The mayor and a representative of Ecovidrio this morning signed a collaboration agreement for waste management and the promotion of recycling glass in the municipality.
"We put in place the necessary mechanism and asked for the effort and collaboration of all citizens to recycling becomes a habit for lumbrerenses" stressed the Mayor.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Maria Angeles Tunisia, and a representative of the non-profit association Ecovidrio, this morning signed a collaboration agreement for waste management and the promotion of recycling glass in the municipality.
The City Council and Ecovidrio have signed this collaboration agreement by which the operation of the integrated waste management of glass containers in Puerto Lumbreras system is regulated.
Thus, Ecovidrio agrees to install enough container to meet the target of containerisation of container per 350 inhabitants.
In addition, Ecovidrio will be responsible for replacing those containers that are unsuitable for storage and waste collection.
Also, through this agreement it provides that information campaigns and public awareness will be made to encourage citizens to collaborate in the separate collection of glass containers.
The agreement enters into force on the day of the signature and the term is 5 years and renewable.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras has stressed that "the City Council are very committed to recycling and waste separation. Therefore, we put in place the necessary mechanism and asked for the effort and collaboration of all citizens to recycling become a habit for lumbrerenses ".
Finally, note that the lumbrerenses deposited a total of 233,440 kg of glass packaging waste during 2015, resulting in an average of 15, 9 kg per capita.
2016, still unfinished, but with the data of 7 months is estimated to be collected 253,000 kg, resulting in an average of 17, 3 kg of glass per inhabitant.

Currently, Puerto Lumbreras has 89 glass containers in the municipality, representing a rate of containerization of an igloo per 165,10 inhabitants while in Spain is an igloo per 230,08 inhabitants.
