Puerto Lumbreras will benefit from a new call for aid from the European Union through the Leader program.

Lumbrerenses will benefit from a new call for aid the Leader program granted by the European Union in the period 2014-2020 for the development of rural areas.

So, this morning held a briefing at the Center for Entrepreneurship of Puerto Lumbreras, which has been attended by the mayor of the town, Maria Angeles Tunisia, the general director of Rural and Forestry Development, Federico Garcia, and Campodos vice president, Obdulia Gomez.

Specifically, the briefing has been exposed Strategy Participatory Local Development launched by the Campodos Association, with which aim to address the main challenges of the European Union as job creation and support for SMEs, efficient use of natural resources and improving public services.

Currently, the Local Action Group Campodos is designing a rural development plan which has citizen participation, and that will guide all concerned to request aid.

Once the plan is approved by the Autonomous Community, will open the official deadline for submitting projects.

The mayor of the town, Maria Angeles Tunisia, explained that "the aid is a great opportunity that we must seize, allowing implement projects that make it more attractive to rural environments, improve infrastructure and increase the quality of life of the citizens".

In addition, Tunisia has emphasized "the importance of disseminating this new call for aid from which many lumbrerenses will benefit, whether associations, groups or individuals".

Finally, it should be noted that in previous years, the City of Puerto Lumbreras, in collaboration with the Association for the Integral Development Campodos, has received significant financial support to boost improvement projects in parks, public areas and tourist sites.

Specifically, in 2015 the city received about 700,000 euros for the creation of viewpoints Nogalte Castle, Astronomical Observatory enlargement and remodeling of parks, among other actions.
