The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras is developing a comprehensive plan of remodeling and adaptation of parks and gardens in the city.
The mayor of the town, Maria Angeles Tunisia, the Councillor for Sustainable Development, Angela Morillas, and the Councillor for Public Spaces, Juan Francisco Carrillo, visited different green areas of the city center to oversee the work being carried out.
Specifically, more than 40 green areas of the municipality between parks, avenues, gardens, roundabouts and squares will be improved.
The plan includes about 200 performances which include reruns of plants, subscribers, irrigation, pesticide treatments, planting grass and trimming trees, among others.
Work began last July 1 and will run until September 30.
Currently, workers are focusing their activity on Avenida Doctor Salvador García Caballero and tasks that are running in this zone are installing lawn, flower beds and installation under drip irrigation.
In addition, they will place new curbs to improve the appearance of this avenue.
They are also planned different activities in the city park Augusto Vels as the creation of a new area with decorative stones and cactus to change the image of the park, lawn installation, improvement of playgrounds and street furniture.
The mayor of the town, Maria Angeles Tunisia, stressed that "this new comprehensive plan to remodel green areas will significantly improve the state of all the parks and gardens of our municipality."
Moreover, he added that "although year-round maintenance and cleaning are performed, is in the summer months when more we have intensified these tasks so that lumbrerenses can enjoy with family and friends these public spaces in perfect condition" .
It should be noted that all the work contemplated in the new plan of remodeling and upgrading of parks and gardens are being made by 19 workers, 4 people are of the company responsible for the management of gardens and 15 young people from employment program "Port Green".
Finally, Tunisia has requested the cooperation of citizens in the maintenance and care of parks "for Puerto Lumbreras remain clean and sustainable municipality. The green areas are a public space for leisure and recreation widely used by neighbors whose environmental value required constant maintenance. "
