The aim of the survey is to promote innovation in municipalities, in line with the European program Horizon 2020 and the Spanish Strategy for Science and Technology and Innovation.
The Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, through the Secretary of State for R & D + i, has renewed the distinctive "City of Science and Innovation" to the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras.
Puerto Lumbreras had already received this distinction in 2012 and again returned to get it to show that in the locality still fulfill the requirements to remain part of the network of Cities of Science and Innovation.
In addition, it has also renewed the distinctive Salinas (Asturias), Adeje (Santa Cruz de Tenerife) and A Coruña.
The aim of these awards is to promote innovation in municipalities, in line with the European program Horizon 2020 and the Spanish Strategy for Science and Technology and Innovation.
The Spanish Strategy for Science and Technology and Innovation recognizes the role of municipalities as agents of innovation and establishes that the Innpulso Network is a strategic platform to foster innovation in cities.
Currently there are already 62 municipalities that make up the Red Innpulso.
Since 2010 it brings together the municipalities distinguished Network, a forum of permanent contact to share resources and information and aims to define innovative local policies and strengthen public-private cooperation.
The distinction is obtained for a period of three years.
Among the advantages of belonging to this network are to harness the collaborative projects between municipalities, prioritization for the location of scientific and technological facilities and preference for holding conferences, seminars and other events.
