The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras is organizing Children's Plenary on the occasion of the celebration of Constitution Day.
In particular, it is planned to hold five Children's Plenaries in which more than 200 children will participate.
This year, as a novelty, will also participate children with disabilities of the association ADICA of Puerto Lumbreras and the association APANDIS de Lorca, in commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is celebrated on 3 December.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, explained that "we have launched this initiative so that children become protagonists and can expose their own ideas and concerns."
In addition, the mayor said that "for the first time, children with disabilities will occupy seats of councilors and will be able to discuss their proposals and other issues of interest in the plenary hall of the City Council."
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras initiates this initiative to bring the local administration closer to the little ones and to listen to the requests of the students.
Thus, the students of 5th year of the four public schools of the municipality will be those who will participate in this day.
During the development of activity, the students will be grouped in different municipal groups divided by colors and, through a spokesman, the proposals will be issued that will be put to a vote.
At the end of the Children's Plenary, there will be a turn of requests and questions.
In this sense, it should be noted that the Child Plenary sessions will be chaired by different political representatives.
The Children's Plenary will be attended by the mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, the general director of Citizen Participation, European Union and Foreign Action, ManuelPleguezuelo, the IMAS managing director, Miguel Ángel Miralles, and the senator for Murcia Fulgencio Gil.
To conclude the Mayor has stressed that "the participation of people with disabilities in Child Care is an unprecedented activity in the Region of Murcia and we are sure that all children will enjoy it."
Tunisia recalled that the holding of these Plenary "is a sign of our commitment to children and citizen participation."
