The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras is improving the lighting of the main commercial areas of the municipality in order to increase visibility, improve the commercial image and encourage shopping.
In this way, light bulbs in street lamps in the main commercial areas of Puerto Lumbreras are being replaced to give these streets a whiter and more powerful light.
At present, light bulbs are being renewed for streetlamps on Rigoberta Menchú street, Mably street and Almería avenue.
The bulbs of the lampposts of Calle Vicente Ruiz Llamas, Doctor Barraquer and Plaza de la Constitución have already been renovated.
The works consist of the substitution of sodium vapor bulbs, still present in some streets of the municipality, by another type of illumination more efficient.
Specifically, the lamps are being renewed by new ones of Metal Halide with the aim of improving lighting and reducing energy consumption.
Councilor for Works and Municipal Services, Eliseo Sánchez, said that "the energy savings that will be achieved once all the street lighting in these streets has been renewed is 60% of the annual energy consumption."
In addition, it has indicated that "with this action we support the merchants and attend their demands".
In this sense, the improvement of lighting will promote a white light, replacing the yellowish existing until now, of greater quality and comfort for the human eye.
Likewise, with the installation of the new bulbs will reduce energy consumption and light pollution.
Thus, it is worth mentioning that the actions are part of the Renovation Plan for Public Lighting, launched by the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras to improve energy saving and efficiency.
