The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has unanimously approved a motion in the Municipal Plenary through which it requests the formal adherence of the municipality to the Strategy for Health Promotion and Prevention in the National Health System (NHS).

The Strategy for Health Promotion and Prevention in the SNS proposes the progressive development of interventions aimed at gaining health and preventing illness, injury and disability.
Councilor for Health, Andrés López, explained that "this strategy is an opportunity to integrate and coordinate efforts to promote health and prevention among all levels, sectors and actors involved."
In addition, the Councilor for Health has said that "we are aware that the local environment is considered an essential environment for strategy and to gain health in the municipality."
Some of the actions that can be implemented in a first phase within the framework of this strategy are focused on providing quality information so that all people can develop healthy lifestyles.
In addition, for the population over 70 years of age will develop individualized monitoring plans for improving health and prevention of fragility.
These actions, which are marked by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, are intended to facilitate a common framework for health promotion and primary prevention throughout the course of life by harmonizing their integration in the service portfolio of the National system of health.
Finally, it should be noted that the Municipal Plenary has agreed on the appointment of a coordinator for the local implementation of the strategy.
Similarly, an intersectoral table will be established in the locality as an instrument of collaboration between sectors.
