The City Council will launch an awareness campaign against School Absenteeism in all schools of primary and secondary education in the town.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has received a grant of 5,402 euros to develop actions aimed at prevention, monitoring and control of school absenteeism and reduction of school drop-out.
To this end, the City already has a budget line in 2017 that will allow it to launch an awareness campaign against School Absenteeism in all primary and secondary education schools in the town.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, explained that "in the coming weeks we will develop a campaign, in collaboration with schools, to combat school absenteeism with informative workshops aimed especially at students."
Within this campaign a program of community intervention will be carried out with students and families in a situation of socio-educational disadvantage, thus complying with the 2012 Order of the Ministry of Education that regulates the Regional Program for Prevention, Monitoring and Control of School Absenteeism and Reduction of School Dropout (PRAE Program).
Lastly, the Mayor stressed that "this campaign intends to continue informing students of the negative effects of school absenteeism and the educational and social resources available to children and families to combat this problem."
It should be noted that this grant has been granted by the Ministry of Education and Universities of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
