The aim of the City Council is to increase the quality of education and bet on the conservation and enhancement of natural resources and the sustainability of the municipality.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, and the president of the Foundation for Sustainable Development, Emilio Ballester, today formalized a collaboration agreement for the integration of different municipal facilities in the Nature and Sustainability Network.
Specifically, this agreement aims to integrate the Astronomical Observatory, the Castle of Nogalte, the Cave Houses, the Center for Interpretation of Nature, the Ethnographic Room and the hydraulic infrastructure of the Casa del Cura in the Nature and Sustainability Network With the objective of increasing the educational quality and the degree of commitment of the citizens with the environmental values.
The purpose of the agreement is to regulate the collaboration between the Sustainable Development Foundation and the City Council, as well as to facilitate the dissemination of the activities of sensitization, dissemination and environmental education that are developed in these spaces.
In this sense, the City Council undertakes to provide the necessary information for the proper disclosure of the environmental values ​​of the municipal spaces mentioned above.
For its part, the Foundation will promote municipal spaces to give greater visibility of the municipality's commitment to environmental conservation, propose measures to improve the value of natural resources and promote its educational offer.
In order to ensure proper control and monitoring of the agreement, a Committee is established to monitor, control, interpret and coordinate the obligations and rights derived from the signing of the agreement.
The Commission is composed of members of the two parties and will meet at least once a year.
The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras has stated that "it is fundamental to promote actions aimed at the promotion and conservation of the environment. We must join efforts to achieve greater environmental awareness and optimal use of municipal natural tourism resources."
