Puerto Lumbreras will host the IX Championship of Absolute and Veteran Spain of the specialty on Saturday May 6, within the framework of the IX Popular Urban Mile "City of Puerto Lumbreras".
This was presented this afternoon by the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, the president of the Nogalte Athletics Club, Carlos David Fernandez, and the president of the Sports Association Esparragal, Pedro Sánchez.
The municipality will host one of the most important national events of the season with the mile en route from 17:30 hours, counting on a representation of the greatest specialists of the national and even international mediofondo.
Before, from 16:00 hours, will begin the tests of the IX Urban Mile "City of Puerto Lumbreras", all under the organization of the AD Esparragal and Orbitalia CA Nogalte, in collaboration with the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras.
The registration deadline is already closed and more than 250 athletes will participate, among which will be present the athlete Solange Pereira.
The participating categories are petate, prebenjamín, cadet, juvenile, junior, promise and veterans.
The riders can pick up the same day of the race in Juan Domingo Deportes from 10.00 to 14.00 hours, and from 15.00 in the exit and finish area (Avenida García Rubio).
Qualified athletes, 1st, 2nd and 3rd, will receive from the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation the gold, silver and bronze medal, respectively.

Finally, the Mayoress, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, stressed that "this national championship, which will be played once again in our municipality as happened in 2014, will be a success."
Tunisia has encouraged citizens to enjoy this athletics competition "in which some of the greatest distance specialists of our country will be present".
