The Department of Culture of the City of Puerto Lumbreras has organized various activities to encourage reading, coinciding with the celebration of the Day of the Book.
One of them has been the act of awarding the prizes to the best readers of the year 2016.
Thus, through the Municipal Library Network has been chosen users who have requested a greater number of loans during the last year.
Thus, in the category of children, the prize winner was Carla Guirao.
On the other hand, the Miloud Arab has been named reader of the year in youth category and César Vera in adult category.
The winners have received a batch of books that have been donated by the bookstores Nova, Rayas and Papiro.
The Councilor for Culture, Mª Victoria Jerez, stressed that "this initiative is framed within the month of the book and with it we intend to encourage children and adults to read and make use of public libraries."
The Councilor for Culture explained that "in the last year the Municipal Library Network managed more than 5,700 book loans and more than 150 activities to encourage reading. Our goal is to attract visitors and encourage reading from an early age."
Finally, it should be noted that the program has been designed by the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras through the Library Network and has collaborated with La Caixa, Nova Papelería, Librería Rayas and Papelería Papiro.
