The Municipal Group of the Popular Party in the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras will present a motion at the next plenary, to be held later this month, to request the revision of the Penal Code in relation to crimes for reckless homicide, omission of duty to Relief and road safety.
The Councilor for Sports of the Municipal Group of the Popular Party, Juan Rubén Burrueco, will present an initiative for debate and approval on the promotion of road safety for cyclists and accident prevention.
Burrueco has stated that "every month we see cyclists abused in different places in Spain, sometimes with the escape of the cause of the accident, leaving injured cyclist or sadly deceased. Last year there was an accident in which a cyclist, Manuel Torres, was run over and unfortunately passed away. "
For this reason, the Municipal Group of the Popular Party will present an initiative with which it intends that the City Council urges the Council of Government to in turn urge the Government of the Nation to revise the Criminal Code with regard to crimes Reckless homicide, injuries due to serious recklessness, omission of the duty of distress and against road safety, when the alcohol and / or drug intake of the offender is proven.
In addition, the motion also suggests that the City of Puerto Lumbreras urges the Governing Council to promote road education in schools as one of the best measures to prevent accidents and encourage the correct behavior of cyclists.
The last agreement included in the motion is that the City Council urges the Governing Council to promote, through the General Directorate of Local Administration and in collaboration with the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia, promote activities to promote education and security Road, especially regarding the respect of drivers to cyclists and how they should circulate on the road.
