With this commitment, the City Council undertakes to carry out an emissions inventory and an Action Plan for Climate and Sustainable Energy.
The City Council of Puerto Lumbreras has adhered to the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy with the commitment to reduce CO2 emissions in the municipality by at least 40% by 2030, through energy efficiency and a Greater use of renewable energy sources.
The Councilor for Sustainable Development, Angela Morillas, explained that "the main objective is that Puerto Lumbreras be a more sustainable city and a frame of reference in the mitigation of emissions of greenhouse gases."
With this commitment, the City Council undertakes to carry out an inventory of reference emissions and an assessment of risks and vulnerabilities derived from climate change, as well as submit a Plan of Action for Climate and Sustainable Energy in a two-pazo years.
In addition, the City Council will have to prepare a report on the situation at least every two years after the presentation of the Action Plan for assessment, monitoring and control purposes.
"We remain committed to sustainable development in order to mitigate climate change and make Puerto Lumbreras a more efficient place."
The council recalled that "in 2008 our municipality adhered to the European initiative Pact of Mayors showing their political commitment to reduce C02 emissions."
Among the objectives of the new Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy are reducing CO2 emissions, adapting to the impacts of climate change and sharing results, experience and good practices with other local and regional administrations within And outside the EU.
