The Fundación Secretariado Gitano has organized different workshops and talks aimed at 1st and 2nd grade students from the Secondary Education Institute of Rambla de Nogalte with the aim of eliminating stereotypes perpetuated in the gypsy community.
Specifically, they are conducting talks about referents of the gypsy community to break those false myths created about the jobs of Roma people.
In addition, practical workshops have been developed with group dynamics reflecting on the social image of the gypsy community.
Through the activity "The question of Samuel: Why the history of the Gypsy people does not appear in school books?", Students have reflected on the absence of gypsy culture in school contents.
The aim of this initiative is to sensitize society and help change the negative social image of Roma people from childhood, eliminate stereotypes and prejudices that lead to discrimination.
The mission of the Fundación Secretariado Gitanoes the integral promotion of the gypsy community, from the attention to cultural diversity.
The FSG develops all types of services and programs that contribute to the full citizenship of Roma people, to promote equal treatment and to avoid all forms of discrimination, to improve their living conditions, to promote the empowerment and development of Roma people. Personal autonomy, as well as to promote the recognition of the cultural identity of the Roma community.
