Activities continue on the occasion of the celebration of World Blood Donor Day with informative talks in the schools of the municipality.
In particular, this morning the children of the school Juan Antonio López Alcaraz have discovered the importance of donating blood to save lives.
The talks, given by staff of the Regional Hemodonation Center, are intended to raise awareness among children about the importance of donating blood.
In addition, emphasis has been placed on the idea of incorporating this practice as a habitual, anonymous, voluntary and solidarity gesture for the benefit of those who need it, in some cases to remain alive.
The mayor of the town, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, explained that "we have organized awareness talks for children, as they will be potential donors in the coming years."
In addition, Tunisia has highlighted that "Puerto Lumbreras has 778 active donors, which places us with a donation rate of 47.17 per thousand inhabitants, more than 10 points above the regional average. The attention that only 19% of the donors are in the age group of the 18 to the 30 years, reason why we encourage the young people to collaborate ".
The day has been closed with a release of red balloons to pay homage to all those donors who have given their blood in recent years.
In parallel, this morning has been called an extraordinary blood extraction in the City to increase the reserves in the Region of Murcia.
Finally, it should be noted that throughout the week there have been various activities to commemorate World Blood Donor Day as the inauguration of a roundabout with the name Blood Donors and the delivery of distinctions to the donors of the municipality.
