The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Tunisia, met with the president of the Spanish Red Cross Assembly in Lorca, Concepción Canales, and the director of Local Development of the Red Cross Region of Murcia, Rosa Navarro, to address the creation of A local presence of the Spanish Red Cross in the town of Lumbrerense.
Specifically, during the meeting they have agreed to formalize a collaboration agreement that will allow the humanitarian organization to have a local headquarters in Puerto Lumbreras, provided by the Consistory.
The Mayor explained that "a work plan will be developed to meet the needs of the population, and from there will start the intervention plans of the organization, mainly social and focused on the people most in need."
In addition, Tunisia added that "after the signing of the agreement, we will launch a campaign to recruit volunteers so that anyone who wants to collaborate can do so in order to create a local committee with autonomy in the future."
Spanish Red Cross has programs in different areas such as employment, social intervention, health, emergencies, training, youth, international cooperation and environment.
Finally, it should be noted that the City Council of Puerto Lumbreras will deliver to the Spanish Red Cross the Diploma of Distinguished Services in the act to be held on July 7 on the occasion of Independence Day of the municipality.
Finally, the Mayor has stressed that "this award is given for the work of solidarity that they have been doing tirelessly for 153 years."
