The four public schools and the Rambla de Nogalte Institute will be part of this project.
Puerto Lumbreras will join the "Connected Schools" project, which will provide educational centers in the area with ultra-fast broadband in order to make the communication network as effective as possible.
In particular, this measure will facilitate a faster connection speed, which is estimated to benefit the more than 2,500 students that are distributed in the five schools in the town.
You can also improve internal communication networks in classrooms and other facilities, as well as receive equipment and technological resources, and connect to IRIS Network.
The program is aimed at centers providing compulsory primary and secondary education in publicly funded centers.
The specific centers in which Red.es executes the project are the decision of the Autonomous Community.
The program places special emphasis on schools located in remote and rural areas, which because of their location have greater difficulties in accessing new connectivity services.
The Councilor for Education, Sonia López, stressed that "this is a firm commitment of the Government for modernization to ensure the use of advanced methodologies in the education of the new generations, through technology."
Through a collaboration agreement between the Community, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport and Red.es, 10.4 million euros are allocated to extend access to ultra-fast broadband to all centers in the Region. Is already taking place, and will conclude before the end of 2017.
The agreement complements the actions that the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport and the autonomic governments develop to promote the information society in education.
It is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Multiregional Operational Program for Intelligent Growth.
